About us

We are Canterbury's piano specialists. We have the South Island's largest selection of pianos. Our two showrooms offer a wide range of pianos in a spacious setting which allows customers to hear and compare the different instruments without distraction. Wytze Hoekstra ARPT is an internationally qualified piano tuner- technician and piano voicing specialist who prepares all the upright and grand pianos. He is assisted in the shop by his wife Janet. 

You will find our two showrooms in Ferrymead Christchurch, at 1025 Ferry Road. We are open from Monday to Saturday.

Piano Tuner & Technician, ARPT

Wytze (pron. "Veetsa") was born in the Netherlands where he did his training at the Opleiding voor Piano Techniek under Herman Wolleswinkel, chief piano technician of the Concertgebouw Orkest. In 1980 Wytze emigrated to New Zealand where he has lived and worked in Christchurch for the past 40 years. He is an active member of the NZ Piano Tuners Guild NZPTTG.

He is a passionate pianist and is a regular performer on the Christchurch music scene, mostly with his two ensembles: the Hoekstra|Kime|Hobson Trio and the Tango La Luna quartet.

Office and Sales Manager

Janet makes sure that everything runs smoothly in the piano shop while Wytze is doing the technical work on the pianos.  She will guide you around the shop answering your questions and help you make the right decision.

Janet is passionate about pianos and has played the piano since she was 8 years old.  

The shop is open 6 days a week. Come in and have a chat with us and browse our great selection.
